The Best Self-Empting Robot Vacuum Bagless Cleaners

Shoppers who adore this self-emptying robot vacuum say it's powerful enough to tackle pet hair dirt, dust, and more on all floor types. It comes with a three-stage cleaning system and can be controlled by a smart speaker or a mobile app.

It's costly however this upgrade to a regular robot vacuum is worth it. It has a large bin that needs to be emptied every 30 to 60 days.

1. Roomba iRobot i3+ from iRobot EVO

The i3+ EVO comes with two rubber multi-surface brushes that are designed to eliminate all types of debris from floors. It is a great choice for hard floors and is effective at picking larger particles and dust. However, it is unable to deal with pet hair. It can also blow particles such as kosher salt and kitty litter, which require an additional sweep.

It features a Clean/Power button located in the middle and Home and Spot Clean buttons on either side. The light ring around the Clean/Power button is solid white when it's charged. It it flashes red when the battery is empty and shines blue when it's looking for its Clean Base in Dirt Detect mode (more about that below).

Once the cleaning of a room is complete, the robot returns to its base, docking and then automatically dropping the contents of its dust bin into the Clean Base for self-emptying. You can manually empty the bin when it's full, but it takes quite a while and requires you to take the bin from the base and clean the filter.

In our tests, this machine had excellent suction on hard floors and carpeting. Its mapping system is smart and works better than most others', storing multiple maps and supporting a variety of functions, including the ability to schedule and customize cleaning. It doesn't permit you to create Keep-Out Zones or clean specific rooms, which is crucial if your home has more than one floor. You might think about the Roborock Q5+, which has a smart-mapping feature that is superior and offers more options for customization via its app.

2. Shark Matrix

Shark is one of the half of the home appliance conglomerate SharkNinja, is a relative newcomer to the robotic vacuum space. While it may lack the sophisticated vSLAM mapping that is found in the Roomba S9, the Matrix is a good choice for anyone looking for an affordable robotic vacuum. Its cleaning path is efficient, even on carpeted floors and provides decent dirt removal across all surfaces. It also boasts a slightly more powerful cleaning head than the S9 and a bagless self-cleaning robots brushroll that is ideal for hair from pets.

Shark's app is frustratingly slow and unreliable when used with the robot. The iRobot HOME app, on the other hand is unquestionably more user-friendly and reliable.

3. IRobot i3 Roomba

The Roomba i3 is our favorite robot vacuum model bagless robot vacuums because of its impressive performance on bare flooring and high-quality construction. It is solidly constructed, moves effortlessly around obstacles, and recharges swiftly. It also has a large dustbin that can be easily empty.

This Roomba model doesn't have an upper-mounted camera that can detect objects or search for features that are unique to be aware of unlike some of its more premium counterparts do. Instead, it utilizes downward-facing optical sensors to detect obstacles as they come up and creates an outline of your floor plan when it goes through cleaning cycles, and also pays attention to internal sensors like gyroscopes and wheel odometers. iRobot's Genius update, which adds smart mapping without increasing the cost of the robot - lets you control it to clean certain areas with the iRobot Home app or your voice assistant.

When this Roomba is full of dirt - and it can be instructed to do this by the app or by its docking station itself--it returns to its base and automatically emptys its internal trash bin into the larger external one. The docking station and the robot also communicate via beacons to ensure that they're in close proximity before the robot starts cleaning.

You can also make use of the iRobot app to schedule cleanings or your voice assistant to do a spot-clean of any area in need of an immediate fix. Its dual rubber brushrolls are designed to remove dirt, pet hair and other clumps of debris. And its reactive sensor technology means that you don't need to manually adjust the head height or bagless robot vacuum and mop suction power. If you prefer an easier-to-manage experience however, you should check out the Shark iQ Plus or Roborock S6 MaxV.

4. iRobot Roomba i5

This robotic vacuum is among the top self-emptying models available. It comes with a dirt compartment that automatically empties into the robot's base once it is it is full. It also makes use of its own Dirt Detect technology to help it find dirtier areas in the room and scrub them more thoroughly. The iRobot Combo i5 takes things to the next level with mopping capabilities. Simply swap in the included Roomba Combo cleaning bin and the robot instantly converts to a multi-surface vacuum/mop robot. It moves through rooms in neat rows and is guided by the iRobot app or via voice commands when it is paired with a smart assistant device.

It does a better job in cleaning floors with no floor and low-pile carpet than the iRobot Roomba E5 and has an allergen-trapping HEPA filter. However, it's not as smart as the Shark AI bagless robot vacuum and has more parts that need to be maintained regularly. It is more durable and has longer battery life but it also costs more to run.

5. IRobot Roomba i7 Roomba

The Roomba i7 is unique in that it comes with an automatic dirt removal system that is integrated into its base. When it's docked, a hose in the Clean Base automatically sucks debris out of the bin and into a special bag that iRobot calls its Smart Maps. It's a smart, clean method to empty your bagless wifi-connected robot vacuum's bin and eliminates the hassle of lifting the old bin and letting it fly everywhere (which usually leads to small dust explosions). However, it adds a tiny bit of an operating cost when you own this top-rated model. You have to buy a new bag each time the old one is full and, while they're not expensive however, you'll be resentful about throwing them to waste.

You can begin cleaning your space immediately after pairing the i7+ with its Clean Base, or you can instruct it to perform some exploratory runs without vacuuming first to make a floor plan. Once you have a floor map, you can make use of the iRobot app to label rooms, create virtual barriers, schedule cleaning times for certain rooms, and much more.

The i7+ robot vacuum is a premium model. It's capable and comes with all the features you'd expect from a home automation device, but it's expensive and hard to justify.
