irobot vacuum Combo Review

Combo is the first mop by iRobot and vacuum robot. It's also the most attractive. The top piece of brushed aluminum and irobot vacuum mop logo are classier than the loud designs of rivals.

The iRobot Home application is used to help you set up and guide your robot. The app gathers usage data and maps of your home, which include furniture and obstacles. Maps and image data is only shared with iRobot if you opt-in.

It's a mop

The Combo irobot mopping and vacuum is a very smart mopping robot that takes all the advantages of the excellent Roomba j7+ and adds an onboard water reservoir, a tiny mopping pad, and a nifty robot arm that raises and lowers the pad. It can accomplish many tasks in 11 minutes before running out of juice and automatically returning to its base station to recharge.

The model that includes the irobot roomba mop Home app, so you can begin or stop cleaning runs. It's also a good-looking robot, sporting matte black plastic that doesn't show dust or fingerprints and the top piece of aluminum is brushed with the small iRobot logo.

It does an excellent job of vacuuming and has no issue traversing large area rugs or transition strips between flooring surfaces. It's also able to pick up fine dust that other robotic vacuums fail to pick up. It's not great at mowing. It's not able to completely eliminate dried milk stains, for example, unless you send it out at least four or five times.

iRobot's dedicated Braava Jet M6 mopping robot, which is available as combination with the J7 Plus, often for less than the price of the combo Combo and performs much better in this, and other difficult tasks. It's even able to clean up ketchup and wine that has spilled but I'd suggest sending it after any kind of liquid with a significant sugar content.

It's a vacuum

It's among the more attractive robot vacuums. The top of the piece is smooth and doesn't show fingerprints or dust as easily as other models. Its tiny dustbin and water tank are easy to close and open, although they're not the greatest in terms of capacity. The Combo j7+ also has the same smarts you'd would expect from irobot roomba vacuum mop including maps and obstacle avoidance mapping that works effectively and swiftly. But it's the mopping arm that makes this a standout model in its category. The mop pad is kept on top of the robot vacuum. When it spots a surface that requires mopping, the pad is lowered beneath and behind the robotic vacuum. This is a major improvement from other robot vacuums that require users to manually remove the mop pad for hard floors and carpets, or even turn the whole unit off to mop.

It's an electric charging station.

When you're ready to charge your Combo Irobot, simply place it on the charging station and align its metal contacts to the ones on the base. The charging station works well and is easy to put in. During my testing it took just a few minutes for the robot to start charging and make a sound when it was completed. Once the Combo robot is charged, you can begin an exploration run in the app to help the robot understand your home. You can also mark specific objects like cords for lamps, as permanent avoidances within the app. You can also connect your robot to Alexa or Google Assistant, so you can use voice commands to direct it around the house.

It's a smart device

Combo irobots use acoustic and onboard sensors to discover the kind of floor it's stepping on, as well as the furniture in your home. This information is combined with images from the robot's onboard camera and maps of your home, to create an individual plan to clean every room. This makes it intelligent enough to stay clear of your lamp cords, sofas and other objects you wish to keep. Of course, like any connected device there are questions about the security of this information. But iRobot affirms that it will never sell customer data and all images are taken with customers' permission.
