The Best Roomba Vacuums

The bronze disk on top and D-shaped body give it a premium appearance. It's a little bigger than robot vacuums with round bodies, but it's light enough to be able to move from room to room. The square front design allows it to maneuver corners and walls, compared to other robots with circular bodies.

The s9+ stands out from other Roomba models due to its superior mapping technology, called vSLAM. It uses a set of sensors to create a map of your home, which reduces long runs and missed places. You can also make use of this app to label certain areas or choose the "room-size cleaning" that is able to balance suction power and run time.

The process is pretty simple. The i7+ and Clean Base pair up over Wi-Fi and take a few runs with no vacuuming to produce maps of your home. Once you've completed that, you can either start a cleaning task within the app, or say "Hey Alexa - vacuum the master bedroom" and the i7+ automatically will un-dock, roll over and begin working.

In our tests, we discovered that the i7+ performed well on both hardwood flooring and low-pile rug. It was thorough and did not leave any dusty debris left behind. It was able to take care of our cereal test with ease by removing large chunks cereal and milk from the bowl.

The i7+ is a wonderful device, but its battery life of 2 hours isn't enough for multi-room sessions. The i7+ comes with an insufficient capacity for the dustbin. It does, however, come with an additional bin system.

Another downside is that the i7+'s tendency to get tangled up in long hair and rug tassels which you'll have to manually remove every so often. The app allows you to check the i7+ status as well as schedule cleaning time and much more. It even includes a full-bin sensor that tells you when the bin is about to empty. The app also offers the option to label rooms as well, which is a great feature for pet owners or children with hair sheds.

iRobot 694

The Roomba 694 robot vacuum is an excellent option if you don't want to spend much money. It offers excellent battery performance and is intelligent enough to know when it's finished cleaning. It can be programmed to run at a set time and then return to its dock after it's finished. You can also program it to run when you're away from home with the iRobot app or an automation system from a third-party like August, Ecobee, or Leviton.

The 694 sports the bright, reflective black top with matte plastic around the edges, and an green "Clean" button in the center. The button is covered by a ring with Home Clean and Spot Clean buttons.
