Saab Key Programming

Saab cars manufactured since 1994 utilize an immobilizer system based on coded keys. In order to add a second key, it requires an entirely new transponder and programming. This is usually done by the dealer using the Tech2 diagnostic tool.

Transponder key

The transponder key is a key equipped with an electronic chip. It sends a signal to the car when it is inserted into the ignition. The car is able to check whether the signal matches the one on the key. If the signals match it will open itself and begin. Transponder keys are a favored feature in automobiles, but you should be aware that they are not as secure as traditional metal keys.
